I’m sure you’re familiar with the concept of Supper Club. It’s basically a monthly engagement where specific friends gather and enjoy a meal together. Rule #1 of our Supper Club: Never talk about Supper Club! So currently I’m in violation of Rule #1 and could essentially be voted off the island. I’ll take my chances. ?
For us the meal itself is important, but more crucial is sharing each other’s company. Sometimes we meet out at restaurants or go ice skating on Boston Commons’ Frog Pond (or not), but my favorite nights are those when we can gather at one of our houses, eat and drink, catch up on each other’s lives, and laugh until our sides hurt. We’re not just ALL about fun and games, we can get real too…we’ve supported during job losses and transitions, encouraged through big decisions like real estate purchases and colleges for kids, and prayed through illnesses, health conditions and pretty much all of the above. Supper Club is really community at its finest. These are our people, our tribe, and our family away from family. ?Can you feel the love tonight????
I know I mentioned we’re not all about the food, but don’t get me wrong – food is important! Mike ALWAYS wants steak, Liz seafood (oh, and rice but she’s trying to quit), Gretchen Cuban night (every time), Herman = Jamaican, mon! (think jerked meat and lots of plantains), the B man is all about the protein, and me - something usually strange that involves organ meat, stinky cheese, or something no one has heard of. What can I say? I like to educate my friends in the ways of food! They are usually (but reluctantly) good sports. (Mike – so proud of you for trying one quarter of one Brussels Sprout! Yay for baby steps!!??) Sometimes we even have theme nights centered around the food - Hello Cuban night! (so good we did it twice and because Gretchen was hosting both times.?)
We're so grateful for Supper Club and the people we get to do life with. And we're excited to share our experiences, theme nights, recipes, and even our shenanigans with you - right here - from time to time. Who knows? Maybe it will inspire you to throw some soup on the stove, invite some friends over and make some memories of your own. You can find all the recipes within each blog post or in the recipe pull down menu on the home page. I hope you enjoy!!
