How to Make Slow Cooker BBQ Chicken:
I used chicken tenders for this recipe and left them whole, but you could use chicken breasts and shred them after they’re cooked as well.
They cook pretty quickly in the slow cooker… it only took 2 1/2 hours on high. So it would take 5 hours on low, and maybe even less time than that.
I have to be honest: the secret is definitely in the sauce! Yes – the sauce totally makes this recipe sing.
I used a combination of marinara, chicken stock, BBQ sauce, and spices to give it some sweetness but some savory flavor as well. Let me tell you it’s crockpot bbq chicken perfection!
Well let’s get right to it…
Add the chicken tenders, marinara, BBQ sauce, chicken stock, garlic powder and onion powder to the slow cooker.
Cook on high for 2-1/2 hours (or cook on Low for 4 1/2 hours).
Add in the cooked pasta…
1/3 cup more BBQ sauce, cheddar cheese, and green onions…
Turn the slow cooker off and put the lid back on for 1-3 minutes until cheese is melted, then gently stir. Garnish with more cheese, green onions, and parsley if you want. Then devour!!
